GUARANTEED TRACEABILITY: FROM FIELD TO TABLE

We know our rice grain by grain

Every single package is fully traceable, allowing you to immediately trace the farm that grew it. This guarantees certified quality and uncompromising safety, offering our customers maximum transparency.

Vignola Rice - Guaranteed Traceability

Controlled Supply Chain: a guaranteed path

Each variety of rice, cereal, seed and legume requires the most suitable soil to best develop its characteristics. For this reason, we carefully select the cultivation areas, choosing the most suitable soils according to the needs of each crop. This process allows us to guarantee a genuine, traceable product with an authentic flavour, respecting nature and its resources.

We select partners who share our vision. This approach allows us to obtain authentic, controlled, and traceable raw materials, creating a solid collaborative network among the best local farmers.

Each batch undergoes thorough checks to ensure it meets established standards before being processed and packaged. Only products that pass all checks are selected, guaranteeing consumers safe, certified, and traceable ingredients at every stage of the production process.

The raw product processing is planned with precision, from shelling to calibration, from whitening with traditional methods to water polishing. The use of sophisticated optical sorters allows to identify and discard any impurities, guaranteeing a homogeneous product, free from defects and enhanced in its natural purity.

Each product is packaged according to specific requests, ensuring suitable solutions for transport, storage and marketing. Thanks to a customizable packaging system, we offer tailor-made packaging in different weights, formats and materials, ensuring practicality and optimal preservation of the product.

The last link in our supply chain is much more than a simple delivery: it is the expression of our operational efficiency, organization and precision, guaranteeing customers a punctual and reliable service all over the world.

A CONCRETE COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

For Riso Vignola 1880, sustainability isn't just a goal, but a daily journey of responsible choices, targeted investments, and continuous innovation.

  • Renewable energy and lower emissions

The Vignola plant is powered by a 1,3 MW photovoltaic system, expanding to 2,0 MW, to cover up to 90% of energy needs. A choice that reduces emissions and promotes a sustainable production model.

  • Sustainable packaging and environmental responsibility

We use recyclable paper and film-based materials to facilitate recycling and reduce environmental impact.

  • Responsible cultivation and attention to the territory

In our agricultural reality in Livorno Ferraris (VC) we experiment with techniques such as green mulching and precision agriculture, which reduce the use of resources and improve soil management. We also work with selected companies that share our commitment to sustainable agricultural practices.

  • Recovery of by-products and reduction of waste

We use every part of the raw material efficiently: the by-products of the processing are recovered and reused in other supply chains, helping to reduce waste and promote a circular approach to production.

Purity and safety: the autoclave treatment

Rice, like any agricultural product, can naturally contain microorganisms, insects or eggs that nest in the glume or husk, the external part that surrounds the grain before processing. To guarantee a pure and safe product, without altering its organoleptic characteristics, a remediation process is necessary before packaging.

Riso Vignola 1880 uses an advanced autoclave treatment system, a natural and chemical-free method that uses high-pressure carbon dioxide (CO₂) to eliminate any impurities.

Vignola Rice - Company

How Does Autoclave Treatment Work?

The 1000 kg bags, made of woven and breathable material, are placed inside the autoclave.

An inert gas, carbon dioxide (CO₂), is introduced into the autoclave and the pressure is increased to 20-22 bar.

The CO₂ molecules penetrate through the different layers of the material, exerting a natural action that expels any “soft parts”, such as insects or larvae, automatically and without leaving residues.

The process takes about two hours, ensuring pure, safe and ready-to-package rice, without altering the taste or structure of the grain.

Advantages of Autoclave Treatment

Removes impurities without compromising the characteristics of the rice.

It uses only carbon dioxide, without resorting to chemical treatments.

The grain maintains its organoleptic properties intact.

The process is certified and part of a monitored supply chain.
